Better Than Advertised

Zeeroo 11/10/2019

This is indeed a great television I considered the Sony OLED but was convinced by the that this product is as good as if not better than the Sony since Sony uses LGs OLED panels. What it more it was more than $1000 cheaper. It proved to be a great choice The color is astounding and I had to get rid of all my plug in TVs because all the apps were already loaded. I also fell in love Google Assistant voice commands for all the common tv activities. The rf remote with mouse pointer is simply amazing allowing us to control the tv wherever we sit without need to point at the tv like the infrared remotes are notorious for. My family truly love this elegant and feature rich tv It is surely worth every cent we paid for it Thank you LG for making such rich luxury affordable

Great Pictures device integration good control

anonymous1340 11/5/2019

I bought this a week ago to replace our 7 yr old Panasonic Plasma that bit the dust. I am impressed with the picture quality and after a learning curve integration with my old Pioneer AV receiver 5.1 speaker system and Sony Blu-Ray player. Also Apple IOS and MacOS Airplay was very easy to get running. I did discover one mode that required me to switch from Auto select sound encoding to PCM and Ive forgotten what the source was. I had not previously researched eARC. There are lots of options for connecting new and old equipment and after a learning curve setup seems not too difficult in my opinion. Negatives are minor but there are some. #1 thru #3 are my biggest gripes and the reason I took off a rating star: 1. The number of 3rd party content apps is nowhere near the number that I had on my Roku device. I have one paid subscription Blaze TV and a free one PBS to streaming services on my Roku that arent offered on the LG WebOS TV. So the easiest workaround was to go to those websites on either my MacPro or IOS phone and Airplay them. I have no idea if the playback via Airplay can/will be as high definition as the native app would have been. I know I could plug the Roku into the LG TV but I dont want to contend with yet another user interface and another remote on the big TV. Firing up Airplay on an apple device seems the less troublesome option. The Roku was put to work elsewhere in the house. 2. If you want to run an Ethernet wired connection to your home network/internet you apparently cant use the LG-recommended IOS phone app for remote control. I prefer to run the TV wired vs wireless. I tried enabling the TV Wifi in addition to Ethernet wired connection but it seems to drop off the wifi randomly and of course the phone app stops working. There are other phone apps but the instructions on most say connect your phone to the same wireless network as the TV. For now wife and I have to pass the included single LG remote back and forth. 3.If you enable the free online LG Channels it is easy to get the TV into a mode where the spinning beach ball remains on the screen forever right in the middle of whatever you are watching even though you have left LG Channels and watching other content. It seemed to happen if you go to an LG Channel and then quickly back to OTA TV. I disabled LG channels because of it. There is probably not much there I would watch anyway. 4. I wasted a lot of time due to my assumption my Blu-Ray player should be switched thru the AV receiver like it was before. There were no clear instructions I could find that say HDMI devices providing video should be connected directly to the LG TV. I was assuming HDMI control would not work that way I was wrong. Some basic connection setup examples with AV receivers and older devices would be nice in the instructions or LG website. 5. Handling of the TV during assembly and placement on its perch or wall mount seems a tedious and risky operation as evidenced by the pictogram-type user manuals. Some text to go along with the pictograms would be nice. 6. The price was quite high but I guess not out of line with other brand OLED TVs I hope it lasts a long time

Really thin and really clear

deltadawnpdx 11/5/2019

Ive had this TV a few weeks and its impressive. The picture quality is excellent especially with a 4K stream. Easy to watch from any angle and looks fine in a room that gets lots of natural not direct sunlight. The UX on the remote could be a bit better but Im picky about such things. Point and click with the remote is a welcome feature. I really want a skip back 10 seconds button when watching a streaming service. Im a what did they say? person and I use the skip back feature on my iPad all the time. The screen itself is really really thin. Like scared Im going to break it thin. But it looks really nice in my living room.

Cant help but look over to the living room and the picture just takes you in it has such a great picture I hope I win the sweepstakes because the price just fell a bunch this week but I guess that is how it goes with technology : Also with such beautiful equipment thin you need to be very careful handling this TV best to leave it to professionals. We hung the TV ourselves but it was nerve racking to say the least. We are enjoying this TV watching old and new movies its cool to see our favorites again in this new dimension

Beautiful picture but BIG problems

Unhappy in TN 11/4/2019

This TV was delivered and installed on Tuesday. We watched it for a couple of hours that night and were thrilled. After watching about half an hour Wednesday night it died. No picture at all just total blackness. 5 hours for $2.5K isnt acceptable. Fortunately Best Buy took care of the problem and we got a new TV. However our attempts to contact LG were awful. We never received any response from them at all. Dont know what they want to be known for but it definitely isnt customer service or product quality

Solar Joe 11/4/2019

Every single adjustment has a description so that you can tweak the display to YOUR level of personal perfection. We cancelled cable and now have even MORE options. The LG channels about 150 are plenty to keep me occupied plus Amazon Netflix and HULU just to mention a few that are available Software updates are readily accepted by the TV and it works like a charm. Vivid Colors

ccornils2 11/2/2019

This TV replaced an old 9-10 year old 52 flat screen TV which was top of the line back then. Wow the colors brightness and picture clarity are amazing. You watch a football game its like your their. Watching the World Series was great. Originally my wife was skeptical on replacing the old TV she doesnt like to shop for electronics since the old TV still worked. But after we had the OLED TV installed and working she too was amazed. There are only two issues that I have with this TV. First we are using the TV stand it came with not a wall mount. Because the TV stand fits near flush to the old table top less than two inches gap I had to ditch the old sound bar system which was almost 4 high. So the TV audio is not as great and theres no separate boom box but its doable. Lastly Ive not been able to sync the magic remote to the black box. Need to talk to Spectrum but theres no rush.

Best Picture but Several Issues

RyanMG 11/1/2019

It definitely has the picture quality that all the reviewers say...The best of any TV on the market period. Better than Sony and Samsung QLEDs. I did tons of research before buying it. The Magic remote control is really great works like an air mouse. However I couple of issues to warn about: 1. This is very very feature rich and complex device and there is NO complete owners manual that goes through everything in detail. There are TERRIBLE INCOMPLETE online and electronic manuals that dont cover all features and the ones that are covered are so brief they are WORTHLESS. The available PDFs are small quick guide to install and use and are also WORTHLESS. I have purchased tons of high end and regular electronics for 30+ years and this is the ONLY device that has no available complete manual. REALLY STUPID LG 2. I kept having a situation where I was losing picture and sound when watching FIOS cable TV. Both LG and VERIZON were WORTHLESS. I had to figure out on my own that the FIOS cable box was incompatible with some of the advanced HDMI settings such as CEC. after turning them off the problem stopped. Again If there was a complete and thorough users manual I could have figured it out much easier instead of the nightmare I went through. Be careful If it werent for the above two issues this would have easily been a 5 out of 5 review. But I wanted everyone to know about this before and after they purchase this TV. Maybe LG will get enough complaints and release a complete manual I mean this is not a $30 toaster over???

Paker 10/31/2019

After looking at and reading about OLED technology I was a bit put off about talk burnin. I ignored it as I heard the same thing about plasma but never saw it on two plasma TVs Ive owned. The OLED picture is amazing the color is outstanding making it almost 3D. Ive heard that a 1080p high definition picture on a 4K TV was terrible. That couldnt be further from the truth. I would suggest if anyone is looking for the pinnacle of entertainment go to your nearest LG retailer and take a look at the LG OLED TV.

xdcms 10/30/2019

This is just the best TV I have yet purchased. It has beatiful colours and the black is darker than a black hole. Once you have experienced this OLED TV you will never be able to view something on another TV without thinking about this one. The soundbar connection via HDMI ARC was super easy. Literally just plug play. All internet connection and Netflix and co works perfectly fine and it recognizes that you can watch HDR and Dolby Atmos. The magic remote is the best TV remote yet. The only downside is the little OK button. Overall I have to say it is a must buy if you want the best movie watching experience at home

After 2 months of use I am very happy with this TV. All my media DVD Blu ray and internet all are great. I had to have an expert to hook up the Bose sound I-control 4 add on. The only issue if you can call it that is the out of the box configuration was not good. I had to go to the Net and learn the setting needed to perfect the experience

Quality picture

Jon2000Hokie 10/29/2019

Replacing a Panasonic Plasma this TV has taken some time to get used to. It took multiple attempts to get high motion scenes like running through the jungle to look smooth. I dont have any 4K devices but the picture from our Blu-ray player and Roku are great. I tried streaming from my iPhone but the signals not strong enough for a quality picture. Love the TV but I need to update the peripherals to recognize all that this tv has to offer. I was concerned about the internal speakers but have been pleased with the quality. Many other brands would require a soundbar to understand whats being said but we havent had any issues. I use a surround sound system for movies to match big sound with the stunning picture but the internal speakers work well for day to day watching.

Beautiful picture klunky Alexa no last channel

RyanRyan 10/26/2019

As all the reviews say the picture is beautiful great dynamics blah blah blah. Let me sum what what all these reviews ignore. First and I think this is egregiously stupid on LGs part there is no last/previous channel button on their magic remote. The remote is great I like the scrolling wheel but no last channel. To do this you have to click a button to open a sub-menu and then scroll to last. Its cumbersome and not convenient. Its 2019 remotes have been around for what 30 years and LG engineers have not figured out the convenience and value of this button? Second the interface with Alexa is klunky at best and doesnt work at worst. The TV is registered with Alexa and every time I ask Alexa to do something like Alexa turn off the TV she replies The TV is not responding. Please check the connection. I check the WiFi connection and its connected... It could be a lot better. Third LG OLED TVs do not like Sonos sound systems and I think some other brands as well. When I first hooked every thing up voices were not synchronized by a long shot. I probably spent two nights and half of Saturday searching online for a solution. I found the solution in a LG forum by a user who reported what worked for him. It is a major issue that tons of people have complained about and yet LG offers zero input or solutions for people to fix this problem. They have chosen to bury their heads in the sand and act like there is no problem. It is embarrassing when TomDickHarry123 in a community forum provides better technical support than LG. The solution: change the sound setting in the TV to straight through or something like that. Super easy fix...if you know where to look. If you dont know where to look then good luck randomly pushing buttons. Something so simple would fit very nicely in one sentence in LGs help section

Amazing Image Quality

Robert O 10/26/2019

Purchased about 3 weeks ago. Really well packaged but could have had dramatically better instructions for unpacking and set up. The use of graphics only with no written description is shortsighted for a $2500+ product. The product is really complex and just loaded with features but you cannot depend on the owners manual to figure it all out. The best suggestion I have is to watch several YouTube videoes of unboxing and setup prior to your own unboxing. It will save a great deal of frustration and anxiety.

I Love This TV

Chris5380 10/22/2019

This is my 1st LG TV and my 1st OLED TV. The picture is absolutely gorgeous. Watching in Dolby Vision is a feast for the eyes. Even 1080P looks incredible. The internal audio is better than most but not jaw dropping like the picture. I do feel that I need to be extra careful with this TV. The screen is extremely thin so Im sure its more delicate that LED TVs. On the flip side the thin screen looks fantastic even when the set is turned off. I did a lot of research before buying this TV. Then I saw it on display in a store. After that I knew I had to have it. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

So Far So Great

GMAN72 10/21/2019

I have only had the OLED 65C9 for nearly 3 weeks but already impressed with the wealth of features and remarkable picture quality. ThinQ is very useful and works very well with my Alexa account devices. I was glad to see I could send videos from my Android smartphone as I didnt see that feature referenced. I had that feature on another brand and found it quite useful.

My first oled TV

Quincy W 10/21/2019

TV is so sleek and beautiful to look at first and foremost Thinner than my pixel 3xl and colors and blacks on the TV are amazing. The future proof HDMI 2.1 ports are an added bonus. Only cons I have about the TV is theres no Google cast but YouTube app can cast perfectly though and the TV is so thin thats its very difficult to maneuver a 65 inch. Besides that this is an amazing purchase

Great TV I am impressed by the picture and sound. One complaint the remote is not backlit. I have to use a flashlight until I get used to the buttons.

Beautiful Picture

chilloutyo 10/20/2019

The screen is at its best when displaying Dolby Vision. Pros and Cons follow: Pros: 1The 4K screen resolution and near-perfect color spectrum are beautiful 2 Dolby Vision and HDR videos really display well 3 The contrast is striking...especially when bright and dark elements are near to each other 4 The dark colors are deeper than I have ever seen 5 The 65 TV weighs under 60 LBS making it easier and safer to use a fully articulating wall mount 6 The WebOS operating system and magic remote are easy to use Cons: 1 Some older low resolution videos display with a lot of juddering the frame update rate is sometimes a bit too slow 2 The WebOS app lets you type in web addresses and displays websites beautifully...EXCEPT that videos on those websites will not play e.g. Crunchyroll.com allows me to log in and see the current video lineup but when I click and a video to watch it nothing happens. Hopefully LG will add more apps like crunchyroll to their download store. 3 The built-in Amazon Prime app locked up hard in the middle of a TV series. I fixed it by deleting and reinstalling the app this is easy to do 4 If you dont agree with the very loose personal internet security terms e.g. to use the microphone on the remote you have to open up the recording to LGs internet many features will not work. 5 The TV mostly does a good job of upgrading lower resolution legacy videos. Some older videos dont upgrade to a perfect stutter-free 4K display.

I have had this OLED for over a month. I still can not get over how great the picture is. I have had a number of high end Sony set but I have to say this picture tops them.

Awesome color features

canjer 10/18/2019

We bought this about a month ago and have really enjoyed it. Only problem that kept occurring about twice a week was a issue with the components not connecting with the cable box when turning the tv on. Couple times going from Xbox back to cable we had the same issue. Had no picture or sound. black screen Changed to all new hdmi cables and still had same issure up until this past week. For some reason the tv seems to being working okay now.

Almost perfect

Phaethar 10/15/2019

Have had for a bit over a month now and its great almost perfect. Great color plenty bright even in my bright living room. The contrast is amazing with the infinite black levels. WebOS is good although I use an Apple TV and a 4K receiver for my watching. Amazing picture for the most part. The only issue is the tinting. On a white screen its very easy to see that the left side of my screen is tinted yellow. There is also a very noticeable yellow stripe down the middle/right side. Its not noticeable most of the time but anything in the snow or bright sand or anything white or yellow all show it very clearly. Also sports as the green grass is yellow-ish on those parts but green in the middle and far right.

Excellent picture

CB in MI 10/11/2019

4k and hdr playback streamed from youtube or Netflix are phenomenal. The detail and clarity will blow you away. Too bad the tv providers are so behind the curve. Would love to see more broadcast tv in 4k to utilize the tv. Very minimal tweaking need to get just that right picture
